Chapter 1: Just Three Days
Sheila’s heart skipped a beat when she heard the sound of the Rolls Royce pulling into the car park of the packhouse.
The Dark Moon Pack had one of the most luxurious pack houses, requiring the services of omegas all the time. The Alpha had been away on an important journey and no one knew how long it was going to take.
His sudden arrival caused the omegas to hasten about their duties as if walking on eggshells as Sheila spoke to her most trusted friend with a heavy heart.
“You have to go. Alpha Nick is back. Please use the back door so he doesn’t see you. He is quite sensitive so don’t let him catch your scent.”
Seated on the curvy kitchen stool, her most trusted friend, Goldie, felt an inexplicable pain in her chest. “Why should you be afraid of your husband? You even call him by his title.”
Sneaking in and out to see her best friend as if she were some kind of ex-convict. This was too much for her to take, and she was tired of it.
“Sherry, you have suffered for too long. If things continue like this, I will drop a hint of your whereabouts to the Alpha King.”
Sheila froze with a start at the mention of her papa. He was the most powerful Alpha that ever lived, ruling the south, east, north, and western America. Even her seven brothers were still struggling to match his strength and capability.
Moreover, nobody could take the Kingship title until he gave up the ghost. All this while, Sheila had lived away, keeping her marriage from him after being disowned because she wanted nothing to do with the pack business.
Giving up everything just to be by the side of the only man she ever loved, her father would still send his strongest warriors after her if he found out about how she lived like a soulless creature.
Sheila was always full of life. Though having schooled in the human world, she also practiced martial arts secretly.
She studied fashion design and ethical hacking but after just six months of marriage, she became like an old housewife, losing her sense of fashion and making herself a doormat for her husband’s pack and family.
“No, please don’t. Things will soon change, and I will let Papa know about it. Nick will love me. He just needs time.” She ensured not to address him by his title this time around, though her tone was loaded with sorrow, as if afraid.
She knew that her father would take her back at any time, but he just wouldn’t approve of her marriage to a man who never valued her.
“I hope so,” Goldie said dismissively before rising from the kitchen stool she sat on. Sheila opened the door to the back for her.
“Quick. Please don’t let his warriors see you.”
Goldie was unhappy but obeyed. It was easy escaping the warriors because they were infatuated with her.
Most of them thought she was a friend of one of the omegas.
As soon as she left through the open back door, an elegant man walked in through the front door, and Sheila rushed to meet him in the living room, ensuring to maintain a good distance between them.
His aura was intimidating, his movements graceful like the sunrise, as he ogled at her with cold eyes. “Sheila, we need to talk.”
As usual, there was no emotion in his voice. It carried the chill of the winter breeze.
Sheila panicked, as she already heard rumors among the omegas that his mate had returned. Most probably, it was the reason for his recent impromptu travel.
One of the warriors hurled his luggage up the stairs.
“Alpha Nick, you just came back from a long journey. Please eat first, or your food will get cold.” Sheila dared not address him without a title like she casually did to please Goldie in his absence.
Trying to avoid the conversation, which she guessed would not be good, she quickly turned around to go get the food, but his cold and yet mellow voice caused her foot to halt.
“This is more important. Sit and let’s talk.” Sheila obeyed like a frightened deer. She has always been obedient to him, so he would care about her, but that hadn’t worked so far.
Alpha Nick dropped his briefcase on the center table, and Sheila dared not touch it. Throughout their marriage, they lived in separate rooms, and he treated her like a stranger. He was completely oblivious to her dedication to the pack.
To him, she was just there at the time of convenience while he waited for his mate.
“You have to understand that I have tried. It’s been six months, but I still don’t feel anything for you. Our contract ends today. I haven’t mated with you, and I haven’t marked you. I hope that you find your fated mate one day.”
He barely looked at her when he spoke. He never put in the effort to make it work and yet claimed he tried. Sheridan’s heart stopped; her eyes turned teary. She had been in love with Alpha Nick all her life, but he had no idea.
Six months ago, he was getting married to his mate, Charlotte. Having schooled in the human world with Sheila, she requested a wedding, which Alpha Nick agreed to but she disappeared on the day of the event.
Sheila, who was seeking vengeance on Charlotte because of how the latter had laced her drink with scorpion venom, took advantage and proposed to marry him to save him from the shame.
Alpha Nick was very cold-hearted, and the strongest in North America. Having invited all the Alphas from across America, he could not allow himself to be ridiculed.
He gave it six months, using the opportunity to search for his mate, Charlotte, until he found her. Fortunately, his six-month contract with Sheila had also ended.
“Can it be delayed for three days?” Sheila pleaded. “Could you pretend we are in love and go with me to the gala awards?”
She didn’t care that she sounded desperate but was certain that the gala awards would change everything.
Once in three years, all packs in America had this function to celebrate extraordinary pack members.
This time, the event was going to be held in a grand hotel since none of the packs had the facility to host it.
Alpha Nick’s expression darkened, finding her request comical. As a man who never laughed much, it was interesting to see him smile, except that it wasn’t genuine.
“You are so ridiculous, Sheila. What will you do at the gala awards? You don’t have anything to contribute there. Besides, I’m going with Charlotte.”
Disdain laced his final words as he glowered at the plain white dress she wore. There was nothing appealing about her.
Sheila’s heart stopped. She only heard rumors, but it was confirmed that her former best friend slash now archenemy was back, and the words slipped from her mouth.
“Charlotte? My best friend?”
Alpha Nick was unfazed by her reaction. He believed that someone must have kidnapped Charlotte and never stopped searching for her.
It happened to be the case by the investigation report he received, which showed that Charlotte had been through a lot, including losing some part of her memory.
Alpha Nick had to be there for her to help her regain her memory and the love they once shared. He regretted not mating and marking her as soon as he found out they were mates.
The mark would have brought them together sooner. “I don’t know about that, but she’s the one I’m going with. To make it easy on you, I want you to sign the divorce papers. Place your demand. I will give you anything including half of my pack to compensate you for the six months we’ve been together.”
“No!” Sheila suddenly yelled, and Alpha Nick’s brows raised despicably. This woman was calm and never raised her voice before but was suddenly yelling.
The sight only made her look crazy. “Alpha Nick, please don’t do this. I can go to the gala awards alone, and you can be with Charlotte. I promise not to bother you.”
Sheila was a crying mess, believing that if given more time, things could work out between them.
Besides, Charlotte had wanted to kill her. If not for the waiter who knocked the drink from her hand and showed her a video of what Charlotte had done, Sheila would have been dead by now.
Charlotte loved Alpha Nick’s best friend, Beta Thomas Addy, from the Lotus pack who eloped with her during the wedding.
“Sheila, I want to marry Charlotte. How is that possible if I’m still legally married to you? She is my fated mate.”
Sheila’s fragile heart broke into pieces and she cried so much, one of the omegas brought her some handkerchiefs.
It was embarrassing, but she couldn’t care less. She was just happy that Alpha Nick’s mom had gone on her long walk with his father and sister. His father and sister never liked Sheila but his mother doted on her a lot.
She was the reason why Sheila was able to endure so much in the pack. The man before her remained expressionless, nothing tickling in his heart for her. He cared more about the mate bond than whatever Sheila was feeling for him.
“So, this is it?” Sheila facepalmed, wiping a tear and feeling like a loser. Charlotte had the man she loved but still came back to her mate.
What possibly could be going on with her? Perhaps, the mate bond was too strong and Sheila was just being punished for not respecting it.
How could she know how it feels when she never found her fated mate at 23? He was either dead or she never had one.
Sheila wanted to investigate the matter, but this man never felt anything for her, making it all an unworthy battle to fight.
The pain in her heart was just too much to bear.
“No. You will have half of everything I own including the pack. That is your reward for being a good Luna, but it’s rather unfortunate that things didn’t work out between us. I already signed my part of the divorce agreement. Add yours, and it’s legal.”
Alpha Nick was hasty, though anxious. More tears brimmed in the back of Sheila’s eyes. Alpha Nick has always been on the move. They never had time to work on this marriage.
She believed that if he gave her three days in pretense of being in love, he would develop feelings for her.
“Alpha Nick, please, just three days.”
Chapter 2 – You are still here?
Alpha Nick lost his patience. “I’m sorry, I don’t have the luxury of time like you do, sitting at home with omegas attending to you all day. We shall formalize the divorce in three weeks.”
Sheila wiped her tears with one of the handkerchiefs, her eyes red from crying so much. It was useless to make Alpha Nick understand her level of importance to the Dark Moon Pack.
Her only concern was his mother. She had a very weak wolf and a heart condition. Due to that, she was never involved in the affairs of the pack, and Alpha Nick’s father, Tedmond, devoted a lot of time to take her around the world.
He feared she might die anytime soon, treating her to all the beautiful sites in the world. For this reason, Alpha Nick assumed pack responsibilities by the age of 14. When he got his wolf at the age of 15, he was already the acting Alpha.
Turning 18, he was coronated in his father’s stead, and that was when the pack saw less of his father and mother. He was there for his sister always, creating an unbreakable bond between them.
“What about your mother? Have you informed her?” Sheila asked. Alpha Nick stiffened. His mother was the only one among his family who loved Sheila. The rest liked Charlotte and helped him to find her.
Though knowing that the news would hit his mother hard and might even affect her health, he couldn’t lose his mate for the second time. “It’s my life, not my mother’s.”
Alpha Nick’s unfeeling words rippled through her heart, draining all her hope. “Please, let’s talk about this,” Sheila rose up to meet him, but his phone rang.
As soon as he saw the caller ID, his lips thinned a little, and his slender finger slid on the screen of the phone.
“Charlotte, what is the problem?”
Care, that Sheila had never seen before, shone in Alpha Nick's eyes, and the softness of his voice, which she had never heard before, sounded in her ears. Not even his mother enjoyed that side of Alpha Nick.
It was as if she was looking at a different person altogether. Then it made sense that Alpha Nick might be cold and aloof but also sweet to whom he pleased.
Sheila was never deserving of his sweetness. “But I just left there a while ago. Yes, I served her the divorce papers. Don’t worry. I’m coming back. Just be calm.”
Deducing from Alpha Nick's words, Sheila could tell it was pertaining to Charlotte’s fear of thunder. It must be raining wherever Charlotte was, and it was very romantic of Alpha Nick to go and comfort her in the bad weather.
“Alpha Ni…” Before Sheila could finish pronouncing the name, Alpha Nick had already walked out of the door without a second look at her.
Sheila sunk into the sofa like a lost soul. The omegas cleaned because Alpha Nick was a clean freak.
Because the warrior had walked in and out of the Alpha’s room, they were cleaning all over again.
They mopped and dusted, Sheila thought to excuse them. As she walked out of the pack house, her legs quickened, and she dashed into the woods, ready to let out her wolf.
‘You are so pitiful to be crying over a man. Let’s leave already,’ her wolf, Solara nagged, refusing to take control, in spite of Sheila’s nudging.
Since the Alpha didn’t want them, the pack was an eyesore to her, she refused to come out.
Sheila was running very fast. It was as if she expected the physical activity to heal the pain in her heart.
Still, she could not bring herself to hate Alpha Nick or say any hurtful things about him. ‘Don’t blame him. It’s the mate bond. I’m the villain here for trying to make him fall for me.’
Solara was even more upset that she was defending the jerk. ‘But Charlotte is not innocent. She tried to kill you thrice. Did you forget that?’
Sheila was panting from her run. Her sassy wolf has refused to take over, forcing her to burn her energy, as she didn’t intend to stop anytime soon.
‘That is because I caught her severally with different men. She’s just afraid that I’ll reveal her secret.’
‘But she doesn’t love Alpha Nick. She eloped on her wedding day with another man.’ Solara refused to accept that Sheila was guilty. To her, Alpha Nick was mated to an evil woman who only deserved his rejection.
Sheila decided to not speak about that matter anymore. ‘Just come out. I’m getting tired,’ Sheila pleaded but Solara refused.
‘I hate this pack. Let’s leave or you can run all you want by yourself.’
Sheila knew that Solana would do as she had said. After a little thought, she changed her direction back to the pack house, bumping into something hard.
“Luna, are you okay?” A male voice asked, trying to stabilize her.
Sheila sneered in her heart, tired of the fake love. Panting, she responded, “Beta Dustin, I’m fine. I’m just tired,” she said and collapsed into the chair.
Beta Dustin was the one who spearheaded the search for Charlotte and should be well aware of everything.
It was hypocritical of him to pretend not to know. “Let me help you to your room, Luna.” He cast a glance at the divorce agreement still lying on the center table. Something flickered in his eyes.
“No, I’m fine here,” Sheila refused his fake kindness, pretending to be asleep. She heard more footsteps enter the living room and still pretended to be asleep.
“Sheila must be too tired to be sleeping here. Please get her to her room.” Athena, Alpha Nick’s mother ordered beta Dustin.
She rushed to Sheila’s side, her palm on her forehead as she checked her temperature. She loved Sheila like her daughter and was greatly disturbed.
Her actions annoyed not only Tedmond, Alpha Nick’s father but also Bree, Alpha Nick’s sister, and beta Dustin.
“With all due respect ma’am, I can’t touch her. The Alpha would not be happy that I carried the Luna to her room. She should walk by herself.”
He said it as if he was being cautious but in actual fact, he didn’t want Sheila to be given any special treatment, especially when her days in the packhouse were numbered.
Athena never accepted the role of a Luna because of her weak health and was addressed by the pack members as ‘ma’am.’
Not reading any negative meaning into beta Dustin’s words, she still felt that Sheila should be made comfortable. “It won’t be good to disturb her sleep. Get me a duvet from my room.”
The beta obeyed and coming back, Athena snatched the duvet from his hand. Covering Sheila, she kissed her on the forehead. “Sleep well, my child.”
Turning around, Beta Dustin intentionally covered the view of the table where the divorce papers sat. Athena, already tired from the long walk said,
“I will get to sleep now. I’m tired but no one should disturb the Luna. It will be better for everyone to have supper in their rooms.”
Tedmond and Bree’s expressions darkened but when beta Justin drew their attention to the divorce papers, their mood brightened greatly.
Sheila never slept. Her heart was heavy, thinking about how Athena was going to take the news about her divorce. The more she thought about it, the more her sadness until the next day when the entrance door opened again. Alpha Nick walked in, but this time, he was not alone.
“You are still here?”
His gaze was dark as he glared at the unsigned document on the center table where he left it last night, right beside his briefcase.
Sheila regretted not putting herself in order. Her face was already puffy from her lack of sleep, and she had bags under her eyes. Her hair was slightly messy, in contrast to the well-dressed and sophisticated woman standing confidently beside Alpha Nick.
When their eyes met, the woman became uncomfortable.
Chapter 3 - I don’t want you anywhere close to Nick
Alpha Nick explained to Charlotte that he had found a replacement bride on the day she was kidnapped in order to save the pack from shame. However, little did she expect her replacement bride to be none other than Sheila, her former best friend turned enemy.
Charlotte and Sheila were once very close until Sheila began to outshine her. Sheila seemed to excel at everything she did, as if she had a lucky charm.
Charlotte, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. Back in New York where they went to school, Charlotte was only good at one thing - attracting all sorts of men.
She didn’t have the strength or decency to refuse their advances. Sheila had caught her in the act many times. When Sheila came top of her class, it was the last straw for Charlotte, and she couldn’t take it anymore.
She tried every means to eliminate Sheila, but all her attempts failed. Now, after six months of being away, she was back to meet the same woman she had failed to kill, who was now her mate’s contract Luna.
“You told me she had left. What is she still doing here?” Charlotte was annoyed by Sheila’s presence, pretending not to know her, because she was afraid that her secret would be revealed.
Sheila, on the contrary, had no intention of revealing the truth. Even if she did, no one would believe her. Rising to her feet with a teary gaze, she lost the zeal to speak, accepting her loss.
Picking up the pen, she crossed out the alimony portion before appending her signature to the divorce paper.
“I would like us to settle everything before tomorrow,” she placed her demand with renewed vigor.
Her appearance wasn’t attractive, but her sudden boldness and refusal to allow her tears to fall caused something strange to hit Alpha Nick for the first time.
It was as if he didn’t know the woman he married, as she had changed into somebody else.
“I said three weeks. It would take that long to change the names of the cars and houses, as well as the accounts into your name.”
After saying that, he just realized that he didn’t even know her maiden name but could not be bothered. Sheila didn’t look like one who would want to return his surname anyways.
Sheila smiled dryly and looked him in the eyes. The usual affection and tenderness it used to carry was gone. “I don’t want any of those. Let’s get this done with.”
Alpha Nick’s gaze was a blend of complicated emotions. It was as if the woman he left in his house last night was different from the one he came to meet this morning.
“How will you survive? If not for the money, then why did you sign the contract?” He did not want other packs to accuse him of treating his Luna badly after divorce.
Sheila’s harsh gaze settled on Charlotte, but the latter quickly grabbed Alpha Nick’s arm like a spoiled brat.
“Nick, just complete the process. If she wants to be proud to live like a pauper after divorce, why should that concern you?”
Charlotte never wanted Sheila to have half of Alpha Nick’s wealth, so this was even better for her.
Alpha Nick did not like Sheila’s tricks, feeling like she was trying to manipulate his emotions to make him feel guilty for wasting six months of her life.
“Since you want nothing, you can go beg on the street when you return to whichever pack you came from. But I’m still kind enough to give you three days to think about it.”
As expected, every glance he spared her lacked warmth, unlike Charlotte who had all his softness, care, compassion, and love.
Sheila was already exhausted. Her eyes were equally heavy due to lack of sleep, and all her emotions were forcefully buried inside.
“I already decided. I want nothing. Let’s get it over with.”
Going back to her father’s pack, she didn’t want any ties with Alpha Nick, as everything about him was now an eyesore to her.
Alpha Nick’s brows raised mockingly to hear such words coming from the mouth of the woman who was begging him last night to not divorce.
“I will be back,” Alpha Nick said and hastened up the stairs. Charlotte instantly dropped her mask of niceness and spoke in a harsh tone to Sheila but kept her voice low.
“Aren’t you pathetic? So after all your achievements, you couldn’t keep your claws from my mate. You are so pitiful. Even as an orphan, you refused his generosity for what? So he would take you to be a good Luna? Bullshit.”
Charlotte had already seen the guilt in Alpha Nick's eyes, fearing that it might be a link to draw him back to Sheila.
Not wanting Sheila to receive a dime and also not wanting Alpha Nick to feel guilty about it, she had no idea on how to sever the ties.
“Why did you come back, Charlotte? Weren’t you in love with Beta Tom? Where is he? I guess you killed him with your poisonous deceit, just as you want to do to Alpha Nick.”
Sheila hoped that Charlotte would go back to Thomas, but things were different than she perceived.
“It’s not your business, but since I’m back, I don’t want you anywhere close to Nick. Do you understand that?”
Sheila smiled bitterly, pushing strands of hair behind her ears. Upon closer look, even without makeup, Charlotte could not refuse that Sheila was a stunning woman, but as to why Alpha Nick was never tempted, it was all thanks to his respect for the mate bond.
Back then in New York, every guy wanted Sheila when she came top of her class. Unfortunately, most of them were humans and she never found her mate among them. Also, she never felt any form of attraction for any of them the way she did for Alpha Nick.
“You already won. So why are you afraid? Don’t worry. I forgive you for all your failed attempts on my life but if you dare try it again, I will fight you boot to boot.”
Sheila’s gaze pierced through Charlotte’s eyes; she quickly looked away, afraid that Sheila would see through her. After all, the woman was very smart.
“You must never tell him about Tom, do you understand?” Charlotte’s voice trembled and she fidgeted slightly at the mention of Tom. Sheila’s eyes squinted, suspecting that something has gone wrong.
Nevertheless, she knew one thing about being promiscuous. The price was a bitter pill, including death. She hissed,
“You know what? You are the pathetic one. You, Nick, and Thomas, I hope you all rot in hell.” Since she signed the divorce papers, she no longer cared.
Charlotte felt in her heart that she still hadn’t won for as long as Sheila refused to accept the alimony but wanted it reduced.
How could she take half of everything Alpha Nick worked for? Half of Alpha Nick’s pack worth billions for that matter. If Sheila took half of it, then Charlotte would have to share the remaining half with Alpha Nick which, though a lot, was still not enough for the greedy woman.
“You are just jealous that my mate loves and waited for me. You are nothing.” For all she knew, Sheila was just an orphan with great talents.
Sheila laughed. Not even Charlotte knew about her family back in college, as she never used her real name, Sheridan Warner, the only daughter of the Alpha King with seven ruthless brothers.
“I feel pity for you, Charlotte. Very soon, the mask will peel from your face, Alpha Nick will see you for who you truly are.”
As they heard footsteps approaching, Charlotte slapped herself hard on the face, sat on the floor, and began screaming. When the understanding of what she was doing dawned on Sheila, she paled instantly.
Chapter 4 – Sheila’s Apology
The shriek had woken the members of the pack house, but Tedmond managed to get Athena back to sleep, which was easy because the shriek did not sound like Sheila.
It could only be equated to one of the omegas. Only Bree had descended the stairs, stopping right in the middle.
“What’s going on here?” Alpha Nick growled from upstairs, hastening to help Charlotte from the floor. The latter wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, shivering in his arms as she was lifted from the floor like a baby.
The scene was painful to Sheila’s eyes. Thinking that Alpha Nick lacked emotions, it was obvious that it was just towards her. The softness and care in his gaze as he looked at Charlotte caused Sheila to realize that all the years she spent loving this man were useless.
He would never feel for her even an ounce of what she felt for him.
“Nick, the bitch slapped me and she said you could rot in hell,” Charlotte cried pitifully, and Sheila’s jaws dropped.
Even after all that Charlotte did, she never hated the latter. They were once best friends, and she was grateful to have been given the opportunity to be with the man she loved, though it was just a waste of time.
After knowing that Charlotte still meant bad for her, Sheila drew the lines of hatred in her heart.
“Why did you slap her?”
Alpha Nick’s tone produced ice, and the temperature in the living room dropped, but Sheila had had enough. She didn’t want to be a part of what was coming.
Biting down her anger, she sneered, “So what if I slapped her? She deserved it anyway.”
Bree was shocked since she never saw Sheila talk back to the Alpha before. Did she not value her life? How could she dare to slap the Alpha’s mate?
Charlotte was equally shocked but happy that Sheila agreed. If she left a bad impression of Sheila on Alpha Nick’s mind, she was certain that the latter would never think about her as good, even if she refused the alimony.
“I demand that you apologize to her,” Alpha Nick commanded, disappointed that Sheila could do a thing like that.
Like a blanket over the sun, he was even more surprised that she admitted it. Charlotte was excited when Sheila walked up to her with rage-filled eyes. The bitch was so easy to manipulate. No wonder she couldn’t capture Alpha Nick’s heart.
Thinking that Sheila was going to apologize to her, the pain on her cheek accompanied by the sound of a slap brought everyone in the living room, including the few omegas, to a standstill.
Sheila’s head was proudly raised as Charlotte’s cheeks turned bloody red from slapping herself and being slapped at the same spot by Sheila.
Alpha Nick wanted to burst from anger and was about to order the warriors to deal with Sheila when she shrugged.
Her eyes shimmered, and her voice was comical. It was as if she had been transformed into a different person. “Oops, I’m sorry for slapping you. I didn’t before, but I have now.”
Part of Charlotte’s reddened face turned white, and she was speechless. Before Alpha Nick could utter a word, Sheila spun around. Reaching the door, she announced,
“See you in court tomorrow at 11 a.m. Let’s get this over with.”
Her slim silhouette disappeared from the entrance, as the warriors looked up to their Alpha.
They saw everything that transpired and were already hating Charlotte. It seemed that their smart Alpha was fooled by his mate.
“Alpha, should I go after her? Madam took nothing. She might not even have transport money,” one of the warriors asked. He didn’t want to directly expose the Alpha’s mate, knowing how futile that could be.
***
As Sheila walked out of the grand mansion, she dialed Goldie’s number. “Goldie, if you aren’t far, please come and get me.”
She was shocked at how fast Goldie arrived. Was it two minutes? “What happened?”
Sheila held out her copy of the divorce papers to her as she was about to walk around to sit in the passenger seat.
“It’s over. Charlotte is back, and he is attending the gala awards with her.” Bitterness laced Sheila’s voice, and she almost shed a tear.
The gala night was the first time she would have made a public appearance with Alpha Nick. She had a lot planned, hoping that Alpha Nick would begin to see her differently after that, but not anymore.
Goldie was so pissed, she moved to the passenger side before Sheila got there, her fingers moving her sunglasses from her face to the top of her head.
“The two-faced bitch. You should drive, or I will cause an accident on the road.”
Sheila was speechless. Goldie could indeed do so, as her anger could burn the sea. When Sheila sat in the driver's seat of the Ferrari, Goldie was suddenly annoyed after thinking about everything, saying,
“Please, let me kick his ass before we go. He and the bitch.”
She already pressed the convertible button, about to jump over the door when Sheila quickly stepped on the reverse pad and began to turn the car around.
As the only daughter of the beta of their pack, Goldie was very tough but still, she would be no match for Alpha Nick.
“Let them be, Goldie. I brought this upon myself. Hopefully, the divorce will be finalized tomorrow.”
“Six good months lost, Sherry, that is like billions lost,” Goldie complained. With Sheila’s capabilities, her time was very precious, every minute worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
“Don’t worry. Alpha Nick never had time for me, so I still worked a lot from home. I have some new designs for us to showcase at the gala awards. I also worked on some new model cars and did some hacking jobs alongside. I was only useless to him but not to myself and the pack,” Sheila shrugged.
Goldie was pleased to hear that her best friend hadn’t completely lost herself. “I’m very glad you still made millions while being his Luna. Anyway, let’s take care of you first.”
“Marriage has eaten you badly, and you look terrible. You don’t deserve this. Your dad will be so happy to see you again, but with this appearance, he would think you had been held hostage somewhere,” Goldie nagged.
Sheila was a hot model, a sexy clothing designer, a wild racer, and a fierce hacker. In all these, Sheila’s appearance was always superb until she got married six months ago.
“Goldie, I need a favor,” Sheila changed the topic and requested. Her appearance would be fixed with a good sleep and just a little dedication.
“Anything, as long as you don’t intend to go back and beg the jerk,” Goldie yawned.
“Haven’t you slept?” Worry settled in Sheila’s tone. “Is Papa okay? How about Mom? And that reminds me, I haven’t seen any of your warriors around.”
Being the daughter of their beta, Goldie, just like Sheila was never allowed to go out without heavy security. Sheila was just realizing that something was off.
“I haven’t been home in a week. I’ve been lodging at a hotel close by when I heard about Charlotte’s return. I just felt that you might need me.”
She left out the part where she had seen Alpha Nick around town with the bitch. Sheila was just worried about one thing.
“How were you able to move around without Papa’s warriors around you?” Her papa was the Alpha King and she loved to just call him that.
A mischievous grin stretched Goldie’s lips. “I just laced their drinks with sedatives to make them sleep well.”
“You what?” Sheila was nervous, beads of sweat covered her face.
“You said that you needed a favor. You haven’t spoken about it yet,” Goldie quickly changed the direction of the conversation, and Sheila sighed.
Driving with one hand, her other hand moved strands of long dark hair blown by the wind to her back.
“It’s over, and I’m ready to move on, but I don’t want anyone to know who I am.”
Goldie had a throwback of when they were younger. Strangers kidnapped them for ransom from their pack. They were rescued, and the perpetrators dealt with.
Still, it was an occurrence they both could not get over. That was the reason why Sheila especially never liked to associate herself much with her father.
“I’m in, but hey, isn’t that your ex-husband’s car behind us?”
Sheila’s hands tightened around the steering wheel as she stared at the rear-view mirror. It was indeed Alpha Nick’s Rolls Royce behind them. “Fuck!” she hissed.
“He is signaling you to stop. Are you going to do so?”
Sheila was frustrated. “What does he want?”
